International Upop: Edvard Munch

Edvard Munch (1863-1944) was a world famous Norwegian symbolist painter and an important forerunner of expressionistic art. Art historian Arnt Fredheim will take a look into Munch's use of motives. Munch himself once said that “No longer shall I paint interiors with men reading and women knitting. I will paint living people who breathe and feel and suffer and love.”

Arnt N Fredheim has a Cand. philol. Art history and now works as a consultant at Statoil's Art Program.

As this is an event as a part of the international week at Chateau Neuf the lecture will be held in English.
