Invasion of the Body Snatcher is a Sci-Fi thriller from 1956 directed by Don Spiegel, and based on the 1954 novel The Body Snatchers written by Jack Finney. The film and book is the result the political paranoia of the McCarthy era. The fear that your friends or your family might be communists, is replaced with the fear that your friends and family are replaced by alien look-alikes. The limitation in special effects of the time works to this films favour, as the unseen horrors of the film brilliantly build suspense.
