White Zombie has been described as the archetype and model of all zombie movies, as it is considered the first feature length zombie film. The film is an American horror movie from 1932, directed by Victor Halperin. The movie is set in Haiti, where a wealthy landowner, Charles Beaumont, convinces an evil sorcerer, "Murder" Legendre, to lure the woman he has fallen for, Madeleine Short, away from her fiancé. However, the only way the sorcerer can only help Charles is by turning Madeleine into a “braindead” zombie.
